Southampton's Premier Martial Arts Fitness Centre

The Lumpini Gym

The Lumpini Gym was established by Sean Toomey in London in 1990, and has since gained a reputation for great fighters and promotions. Many past students of Lumpini, have gone on to open very successful gyms around the United Kingdom. After relocating to the New Forest, Hampshire in 2002, Sean Toomey opened Lumpini Hampshire in New Milton, with classes in Lymington and Dibden and in January 2007 we move to our new permanent facility at the Ocean Gym, Southampton.

The club welcomes not only those wishing to compete, but also those wanting to learn Thai Boxing for fitness or self defence. Classes are held for all abilities with both male and female instructors.

We also hold regular seminars, gradings, social events and training trips to Thailand.

Muay Thai

Thai Boxing is the ancient martial art and national sport of Thailand. It is known as the eight weapon fighting art and involves the use of kicks, knees, elbows and fists. To be a Muay Thai fighter requires much courage, endurance, stamina, knowledge and skill. Unlike many other martial arts, Muay Thai is a full contact sport and professional fighters only wear boxing gloves for protection.

Muay Thai training is a fantastic way to improve fitness, calorie burn, tone, build strength and power, relieve stress and learn self defence.

Punch Bags, pad work, shadow boxing, circuit training and sparring (optional) all form part of Muay Thai training.
