All classes unless otherwise stated on the timetable are suitable for men and women.
Please note that although we have listed all the below classes, they are subject to availability and may not be on the current timetable.
THAI BOXING
Thai Boxing traditionally known as Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand and the fighting art of ‘eight limbs’. Considered as the toughest fighting style of all martial arts. Within these classes you will learn to punch, kick, knee, clinch and elbow, as well as defending yourself.
The classes vary and no two classes are the same. After a warm up and maybe some shadow boxing, the main element of the class may involve padwork/bagwork or technical paired combinations. Some classes may focus on one specific technique, others may involve all techniques.
BOXING
Boxing is a great class for those wanting to learn the art of Boxing and have a great work out. Instructed by Sean Toomey who is a qualified England ABA coach, you will be taught how to box correctly, evade and defend as well as boxing conditioning. Most students undertake this class for a fun fitness workout and to learn and improve their boxing skills. We also have white collar and unlicenced boxers in the class.
MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)
MMA, as the name suggests is a mixture of various fighting arts. The majority of those who are successful in the ring have excellent Thai Boxing skills and ground fighting techniques. This class will teach both. You will learn the art of attacking and defending yourself in both a standing stance but also how to take down and succeed on the floor. A combination of Boxing, Thai Boxing, Judo, Ju Jitsu, Wrestling and Submissions will be taught.
BJJ (Brazilian jiu jitsu)
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling but especially ground fighting. It was derived from the Japanese martial art of Kodokan Judo in the early 20th century, which was itself then a recently-developed system (founded in 1882), based on multiple schools (or Ryu) of Japanese jujutsu. BJJ can be trained for self defense, sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition, Sparring ('rolling') and live drilling play a major role in training, and a premium is placed on performance, especially in competition.
